Bullying by L.M

I read a book recently that highlighted bullying in schools, for myself personally I can relate to it in more ways than one. I wanted to share my own experience after reading this story.

I was a victim of  bullying all through school but I never spoke to anyone.

It started when I moved schools after moving to the area  I was in primary school and this one day I was walking on the lower path with my friend and this girl stood by the fence and waited until we were by her . Before kicking me in the face, blood exploaded from my nose luckily she didn't  break it .I don't know why she did it and she was made to apologise by the teacher but she continued to call me names and make fun of me. I was quiet in school and kept to myself, I was glad when primary school was over that girl went to a different high school to me. I thought the bullying would stop starting high school but no, the bullying was not as bad but I was called names and made fun of . I guess because I was the quiet one I was a easy target. I never told anyone not even my family I would just let it get to me. It isb probably why I am nervous meeting new people now, I am still quiet uneless I know someone. I have had thr chance to do face to face interviews for my blog, but because I am nervous meeting new people I wouldnt do it in person.

I know have three children of my own two sons and a daughter, my daughter also had a bad experience with bullying in primary school. She has a birth mark on her wedding finger and the hair is a little thicker. She was called really horrible names one child asked her why she has dirt on her finger,it would really upset her and she would come home really crying because of the boys. The school did take action, they pulled the class in and he teacher had a long chat with the class and explained about birth marks and scars on others.  It did stop the horrbile names she was being called, in 2017 she started high school. I was worried that it would be worse starting up in secondary school so I had a chat and told her to let me know if anyone says anything about her finger.  Luckily so far nobody has said any horrible things about her finger but some kids have asked her what it is and she explained that its her birth mark.  She has friends who are there for her if anyone makes any remarks about it.

After reading the book it made me think about not just what I went through growing up but also my daughter. Some kids can be very cruel and very nasty with words, whether it is phyiscal or mental it is still bullying. No matter what shape, size, colour or religion a child is they shouldn't have to deal with bullies.

Sienna Grant wrote a book for her daughter to read called Why me? , this book will resonate with so many young children not just girls but boys too. As a victim of bullying it struck a cord with me, this is one book I personally think that kids  need to read. It shows you that you don't need to be scared to talk to someone and that you are not alone there will always be someone there for you. You only need to ask for help, if you don't  want to speak to a family member then there are other sources that can be there when you need it most.

This is the book I ha e mentioned in my blog post, it's called Why Me? By Sienna Grant. It is a Brilliant story very emtional and true to life. It is avalible on amazon now. I highly recommend this YA book.

BLURB

Everyone has an aim when they go to high school: make friends, pass exams, and leave. The hard truth is—it’s not that simple.

High school experience depends on which group you fall into. I never thought for a minute I’d be branded. I wasn’t a Brainiac, but I got by. I wasn’t one of those gorgeous girls. I was me. I did my work, had a good circle of friends, and I wasn’t mean to anyone.

They wanted to see me fail.
They were happy when I cried.
But that wasn’t enough for them.

Every day I asked myself the same question:
Why me?

My name is Mikayla Hobson and this is my story.
