Jenn sterling

AUTHOR INTERVIEW
WITH
J STERLING

Hi jenn how are you ?Tell us a little about yourself?

Uh, my name is Jenn- and I am from southern California (born & raised) and I love it more than anything. okay, not anything- but I love it a lot. lol  I don't believe in sleeves and I don't own any jackets. lol

Are the stories old ones you have saved on you computer or new?

Everything I write is a new piece of work- although I have various parts of books that I've been writing for the last 4 years on my computer that I hope to get to when the timing is right.

When and why did you begin writing?

I got fired from my job in 2010 and the first thing I did was buy a laptop and start writing the book that had been in my head for the last 10 years (in dreams).....  that's how it all started!

When did you first consider yourself a writer?

For a long time, I couldn't call myself a writer, or an author, or anything that was an official title like that- because I didn't feel like one because I never felt successful enough. I think it was after I release The Perfect Game that I finally got comfortable shouting to the world "I AM A WRITER! AN AUTHOR!"  and was okay with it without feeling like a fraud. you know?  lol

What inspired you to write your first book?

A dream I had that I NEVER forgot, or quite got over... and my very close friend Tray. It's a combination of fiction mixed with a hell of a lot of real life feelings and emotions.  I have a soft spot for that story (in dreams).

Who was the easiest character to write for and why and  hardest and why?

Easiest? A lot of the girls are the easiest for me because they stem from my personality-  the hardest so far has been Paige though- she's the least like me in real life, so everything about her was a challenge to write- she goes against everything my personal instincts would tell me to do.

What was your favorite  book as a child?

It's possible that my favorite book was Tager Tales- something my mom read to me often.

How much of the book is realistic?

Every one of my books has pieces of my reality and real life in them. And I honestly try to write things that might really happen to someone in real life- I like to think that I write realistic romantic fiction.  At least, that's what I hope to write.  things you can relate to. :)

What book are you reading now?

Nothing at the moment, but my favorite reads of the year so far have been Fisher's Light by Tara Sivec, The Pact by Karina Halle and Kaleidoscope Hearts by Claire Contreras. And my kindle is fullllllll and needs some of my attention.  :)

Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest?

Hard to say- sometimes writers aren't new, but they're new to me- you know?

What are your current projects?

I have the 2nd book in the Celebrity Series releasing at the end of June (June 29th). It's a really sweet and fun book- like all of my Celebrity books have been. Aside from that, I'm working on the last book in the series, as well as a couple other stand alones.  It's a hodge podge of goodies right now!

Jenn you have written  loads of books, out of them which one would you say is a favourite  of your readers?

THE PERFECT GAME!  hands down. no one competes with Jack F'n Carter!  <3

And which one is your favourite  book you have written?

In dreams holds a very special place in my heart since it was SUCH a personal story and started me on this whole crazy journey, but The Perfect Game changed my world and made this a career for me and I am eternally grateful for that.  So I guess it's a 2 way tie.

Who is your favourite character  out of all the brilliant  ones you have brought to life in your books?

Jack. My readers can't get past him, and I can't either.

Can you share a little of your current work with us?

getting excited for Book #2 in The Celebrity Series?  Breaking Stars comes out on June 29th... Still a little bit away, but I wanted to share some of the beginning of the book with you.  I hope you enjoy it!  :)

Paige
When a text message pinged on my phone, I clicked on the link included without thinking. I didn’t bother reading the contents of the text or the link description; knowing it was from my best friend, Quinn, was enough of a reason to absentmindedly click for me. Usually she sent me links to things she thought I should see that involved our friends, coworkers, or her boyfriend. This link, however, had nothing to do with any of her usual subjects, and when I realized that, my heart stopped.

The video appeared grainy at first as the cell phone camera adjusted to the strobe lighting in the club. My boyfriend, Colin, suddenly appeared in the frame, a smile plastered on his face as his eyes focused on someone or something not in the picture. He raised a hand, waving someone over toward him, his grin growing more mischievous.

My brain screamed at me to stop watching. Something inside begged me to look away, turn it off, throw my smart phone across the room, but I couldn’t. It was obviously bad enough for Quinn to send to me, so I had to keep watching.

No matter how much it was going to hurt.

An overly busty blonde sauntered into view, showing more skin than clothes, dancing seductively as she made her way toward my boyfriend. He reached for her waist and pulled her onto his lap. She straddled him, her legs wrapping around his very private area in very plain sight.

Who does that?

The blonde’s skirt rode up, revealing her bare ass, and Colin’s hands were suddenly there, squeezing it, slapping it, lifting her skirt higher. As she leaned her head toward his face, I honestly thought for a second he’d come to his senses. Maybe he wouldn’t kiss her. Maybe he’d toss her off his lap, tell her to go to hell, and rush out of the club, humiliated. Then again, that type of thing only happened in the books I read and the movies I starred in. Most guys weren’t anywhere near as well-behaved as we women wanted them to be.

As if reading my mind, Colin fisted a handful of her hair, and I watched as he yanked her head back, causing the rest of her hair to spill provocatively behind her. His lips pressed against her neck as he licked his way up to her mouth. She laughed, and then he kissed her. It was a mess of tongues and body parts grinding, with hands roaming in places hands shouldn’t be roaming in public.

I’d seen more than enough, so I stopped the video and tried to remind myself how to breathe, my heart pounding as if I were on a treadmill. If anything came after that spectacle—no pun intended—I didn’t need to see it.

Pushing off from the couch, I walked to my window and glanced down toward the street, noticing the swarm of paparazzi already beginning to form.

They’re quick.

This wasn’t the first time claims of infidelity like this had been leveled against my pop-star boyfriend, Colin McGuire, but it was the first time pictures had accompanied the accusations. If a picture spoke a thousand words, this horrendous video and the photos that accompanied it screamed a million. Colin could never talk his way out of my seeing his tongue being buried in that woman’s throat, seeing him grab her ass and grinding on her for all to see.

Falling back on the couch, I tried to unsee what I’d just watched. I couldn’t believe Colin was so blatant and stupid. Most celebrities knew if they were going to cheat, they should do it where people couldn’t watch them or take photos for proof. Apparently the VIP section of a club in London was not that place. Maybe he wanted to get caught? But why not just break up with me first?

Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?

I struggle with setting the scene and really remembering that people like description and not just dialogue based action. I'm so dialogue driven-  I'm trying to slow down and take my time with things, but it's very hard. I love to write fast paced stuff!

Who is your favorite author and what is it that really strikes you about their work?

My favorite author?  That's tough!  I will say that Tara Sivec is unbelievably talented in so many genres and they're ALL so good. I love the way that she writes a story and can write them all so differently- that's a great talent that I don't think many posses. I'm constantly in awe of her ability and enjoy reading everything she writes!

If you could co- author a book with another author who would it be?

I think Jillian Dodd or Tara Sivec would super fun to partner up with!  I'll even throw Abbi Glines name in the ring!  lol

Who designed the covers?

Michelle Warren from Indie Book Covers does ALL my books, She is the best designer out there- hands down.

What was the hardest part of writing your book?

just challenging myself to be better with each story I write. I'm always trying to grow, write better, be better, etc..

Do you have any advice for other writers?

Follow your heart- not your wallet. Don't do this for the wrong reasons.

Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?

I freaking LOVE you and owe you everything!  I never take you for granted. You are so appreciated and I am so thankful for you.  :)

What do you like to do when your not writing  you next book?

I'm doing everything I can for my son and his future baseball career. So I'm at the game, traveling with him, etc. It's all baseball, all the time in this house!

What is your favourite  movie?

I love Bull Durham, Sliding Doors, The Sweetest
Thing....  so many

If one of your books was made in to a movie like so many  books from amazon, which one would you like it to be and who would you cast as your  leading characters?

I think The Perfect Game might be okay on the big screen, but I'm not sure!  RYAN GUZMAN is jack carter. Hands down. There is no one else!
And for Cassie- I'm still torn!

What an when is your next release?

Breaking Stars- Paige & Tatum's story is coming
June 29th! It's available for pre-order now
and I hope you all enjoy it!  :)

David Michael

AUTHOR INTERVIEW
WITH
DAVID MICHAEL

Hi David how are you?

Oh, I’m just wonderful! It’s been a little gloomy here in Salt Lake for the last few weeks, so I’m enjoying the break in the crummy weather and soaking up some sun!

Tell me a little about yourself?

I was born and raised in Utah (nope, not a Mormon). My dad’s entire family is spread all over southern California so I spent a lot of time there as a kid as well. I LOVE animals and have 2 cats and a dog in my tiny little apartment. I’m the oldest of 7 kids (don’t get me started) and every last one of my siblings are still terrified of me.

You are quite a charmer, how do your readers react when they meet you in person?

A lot of my readers are all smiles and tend not to say much. It’s weird to me because I spend an INSANE amount of time on my Facebook page interacting with them and we talk about EVERYTHING. I always expect them to come bouncing into my lap and give me a big hug instead of quietly freaking out on the inside.

Are the stories old ones you have saved on you computer or new?

Everything I write is new content. I BARELY outline, so when I sit down at the keyboard, it’s a new adventure every day!

When and why did you begin writing?

Oh hell… I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember… I think my first “book” was in 5th grade? There really wasn’t a reason behind it. It just seemed like what I needed to do!

When did you first consider yourself a writer?

A writer? I’d say sometime in Elementary school. I didn’t consider myself an AUTHOR until I got my first royalty check. It was a weird head-space thing for me.

What inspired you to write your first book?

My very first book back in the day was written because I was mad at my best friend at the time. He quit hanging out with me because the popular kids didn’t like me. Hahaha!
My first PUBLISHED book was inspired by my own life and ideals. It was meant to address what happens to us, the average people, when good and evil stop playing by the rules. Who draws the line between right and wrong? It’s something that’s always bothered me, so I wrote a book (that turned into a series of five books) about that very topic!

Who was the easiest character to write for and why and hardest and why?

I think, thus far, Luke from the United Series was the easiest to write. I connected really well with his personality and he was always just so willing to talk when it was time to work. The hardest has got to be Parker. His lifestyle is one I don’t and probably never will understand. Hopefully, after his book is finished, I’ll at least have a little more insight.

What was your favorite book as a child?

Hmm… When I was REALLY little, my grandma used to have this giant pink picture dictionary that I LOVED to read with her (so much so that I actually found a copy on eBay a couple years ago and bought it!). My Side Of The Mountain was a teen favorite, along with Between A Rock And A Hard Place.

How did you come up with the title?

That part was easy for ‘Porter’—it was the main character’s name!

How much of the book is realistic?

It’s a pretty realistic book. I mean, it’s a story that could probably happen to 10% of the population in southern California. Haha!

Are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?

A combination of the two. I think a lot of good fiction requires that we pull things from our own lives AND things we observe in the lives of others.

What books have influenced your life most?

That’s a tough one because there are SO many! The MoonQuest by Mark David Gerson comes to mind. The Xanth novels by Piers Anthony. Anne McCaffrey’s Dragon Rider books. (clearly, I read a lot of Fantasy… Hahaha!)

If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?

Mark David Gerson for sure. I met him LONG before I ever published and he has been nothing but a font of information, inspiration, and encouragement for me.

What book are you reading now?

At this exact moment, I’m reading ‘The Boys In The Boat’ by Daniel James Brown

Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest?

Daryl Banner is new to me (not necessarily new to the “scene”). His writing is easy to read, steamy, and quick to put in on my short commutes to work.

Which one of your books would you say is a favorite of your readers?

At this point, I have to say ‘Porter’ is quickly making its way to the top of that list! Before the porn star came on the scene, I think ‘Damned’ was the communal favorite.

And which one is your favorite book you have written?

‘Damned’ (my 4th book) is still my favorite. There’s a lot of ME in that book and it’s the one I connected to the most.

Who is your favorite character out of all the ones you have brought to life in your books?

Luke (‘Cursed’, ‘Damned’, and ‘United’). Followed by Holly (‘Porter’)

Can you share a little of your current work with us?

This is a snippet from ‘Parker’ (the next book in the Dick Dynasty Trilogy)

“Sirens.

The only thing I remember vividly about the ambulance ride was the screeching keen of the siren.”

How would you describe yourself?

Quiet, thoughtful, observant, caring, and kind. With a mean streak a mile wide if you get on my bad side. Hahahahaha!

Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?

Marketing and promo work. Ack! The bane of my existence! I just want to write! Being outgoing is so taxing! Haha!

Who is your favorite author and what is it that really strikes you about their work?

Nora Roberts (tell anyone that and I might have to kill you… Kidding!) The way that woman can tell a story and make her characters come to life is seriously brilliant. She blows my mind every single time.

If you could co- author a book with another author who would it be?

Lola Stark! **happy dance** I love that woman! We’ve worked together on several projects but never actually co-authored anything… We’ve talked about it though… Hmmm…..

Who designed the covers?

Louisa with LM Creations did The United Series for me! The designer of ‘Porter’ doesn’t want limelight for it though because it’s something she does as a favor to me and a hobby.

What was the hardest part of writing your book?

The halfway mark. Every. Single. Time. The beginning and the end of a book always go by so fast for me, but the middle… Ugh. It’s where I plateau and I just have to force myself to plow through it.

Do you have any advice for other writers?

If you want to sell your books, sell yourself first. Be a good person. Interact with your fans. Make them like YOU. Then they’ll follow you to the ends of the earth and back.

Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?

Thank you thank you thank you! This last year and a half has been crazy and I couldn’t have done it without you!

What do you like to do when you’re not writing your next book?

Sleep. Hahaha! I work a “big boy job” on top of my writing, so any chance I get to sleep, I take it! I’m also a bit of a gamer and I LOVE to travel.

What is your favorite movie?

Practical Magic. Easy.

If one of your books was made in to a movie like so many books from Amazon, which one would you like it to be and who would you cast as your leading characters?

‘Damned’ would be my choice (assuming I can’t say the entire series…) Luke would probably be, Adam Rodriguez. Hayden would be Cam Gigandet. And Kane would be Kellan Lutz.

What and when is your next release?

‘Porter’ goes live June 11th 2015 and Parker will be releasing early in December of 2015.

Thank you so much for agreeing to do this interview with me it has been a absolute pleasure chatting with you.

**bows**nods**waves**blushes** Thanks for having me!!!

CHOCOHOLICS SERIES BY TARA SIVEC- REVIEWS

LOVE AND LISTS

BLURB

This is the first in the chocolate lovers spinoff-chocoholics: The foul mouthed offspring tell their stories.

Twenty-five year old Gavin Ellis had love and support of his family ever since he was a little boy and couldn't stop talking about his penis. He's also always had their unsolicited advice and uncanny knack of embarrassing him at all costs. Now that he's an adult and trying to convince the love of his life to love him back, things haven't changed very much from when he was younger.

when Gavin's best friend Tyler suggests he make a to-do list of items that will ensure he wins the girl,Gavin is one-hundred-percent on board:after a few six packs.  After puking in the shrubs, a bad experience with viagra,a sex-ed course gone wrong, and a slew of other mishaps courtesy of his family and friends, Gavin is pretty sure this list will be the death of him.

Sometimes, trying to make someone love you with a list isn't always the best idea.

  MY THOUGHTS

I went in to reading this book with a open mind after reading all of the original chocolate lovers series, they were off the scale hilarious. I had tears in my eyes from laughing so hard, I wasn't really sure how Tara was going to top the most comical series. But bloody hell she did I absolutely pissed myself reading this book. Gavin had the quirky qualities that his mother and father had in seduction and snacks plus more. He is your typical boy , you may think you know what he's going to do next but he will keep on surprising you. highly recommended.

MY THOUGHTS
Tattoos and tatas is the next installment of the chocoholic series, in this book it touch the subject that many women are scared of Cancer.
When your best friend comes out and tells her girlfriends that she has Cancer they think it's some kind of joke. But after realizing she isn't joking she it at a complete loss for words. They help her the only way best friends can.

I loved this book for 2 reason one because it was on a subject that a lot of women are terrified to talk about when they here that dreadful news they have breast cancer. And two because even though cancer is a dreadful in this book it shows you that you can be light hearted and laugh about it and you don't  need to stop just because you have it you can live life. Only Tara Sivec could turn something so bad in to something that will leave you crying with laughter. Tara you amaze me this book has the same feel as the other books in the series with the fun but also the seriousness to.

 MY THOUGHTS
This book was so funny, not one to read in public as there is a high chance you will embarrass yourself.
Passion and ponies has the same kind of laugh out loud humor that’s the original series had.
This is one of the funniest books I have ever read on amazon. I laughed so much my eyes were streaming with tears. It was so hilarious that I had to stop at one point because I couldn’t see the words from laughing so much with tear in my eyes. I highly recommend this to everyone.
I will leave you with this quote from the book.
“Were you dreaming about horses? You were fucking prancing in your sleep.”

ALEYA MICHELLE

AUTHOR INTEVIEW
WITH
ALEYA MICHELLE

PLEASE WELCOME THE BRILLIANT AND TALENTED, ALEYA.

Tell us a little about yourself?

I am from Sydney, Australia, in my thirties and married with three sons.
I am a lover of reading and getting lost in another world with interesting characters. I have always loved writing, so in January 2014 I decided to pursue my writing career.
Hobbies include going to the beach, camping, shopping, playing netball and of course reading.
I am also a lover of animals so we have a dog, lizard, hand tame cockatiel plus two others in an aviary, a princess parrot and I’m hoping to get another cat down the track.

How would you describe your books?

My books are contemporary romance, both with erotic and steamy scenes.
I love humour so I add quite a bit into my writing, along with movie and song references.
My first book Breaking my Heart is quite unique, the shy sensitive guy Kade meeting the wild party girl Roxy and all the craziness in between.
Healing my Heart is a bit of a Romantic suspense with Roxy’s new boyfriend.
But really it’s all about fate and whether or not Kade and Roxy are meant to be together.

What genre is your work mainly? Do you tend to stay in the same vein or are you hoping ( if not already) to explore new ventures?

Contemporary romance/Erotic
Would love to explore new ventures, I am a fan of thrillers and horror myself.

Share with us a quote from one of your favourite characters?

“This tanned skin of yours is so clear and smooth; I love the softness, your untouched beauty, no Photoshop, Botox or plastic surgery. Roxy I love you and just you my all-natural Aussie beauty”.
Kade Thomas – Breaking my Heart
Is it hard to come up with new ideas or plot's?
I have quite a lot of plots and ideas for new books, but it is quite difficult to be unique and write something that hasn’t been done before.

How long does it take you to complete a finished book?

Book 1 took me around four months and 3-4 months for book two. That is on a deadline and a lot of sleepless nights. Lol

Who is the easiest character to write for and why? Hardest and why?

Roxy for sure, I guess I was a party girl there at one stage. She pretty much does what she wants, when she wants but also is respectful and loyal.
Kade would have to be the hardest, but I loved it. I had to get inside a males brain and the way they might think or act, it was a challenge.

Are your characters based on real people? People you may know on Tv or Movie stars?

No my characters are a work of fiction, but I guess with hubby surfing growing up he is a little like Kade.

Without giving anything away ,what is or are your favourite scenes in your book?

Favourites scenes: In Breaking my Heart it would have to be when Roxy wakes up to herself and lets Kade in 100%.
Healing my Heart – Kade and Roxy reuniting for sure, soul mates always find their way back to each other.

What's up next for you?

Book 3 Forever in my Heart is coming out January 2015
I really love this book, giving them their HEA, but of course with a few hiccups along the way.
· Also I am working on a new project I hope to be announcing soon and releasing March 2015.
OUT 20TH FEB

Do you have any hobbies?

Reading of course, playing netball, going to the beach and shopping.

Is there anyone besides you in your family who writes?

My brother has also written a few things, but he is more sci fi category.

When did you start. What was your first published piece?

Been writing on and off for the last few years. But seriously started December last year 2013 and Breaking my heart was my first self-published book, released in May.

Do you have any favourite books or authors?.

Abbi Glines, Sylvia Day, Jodi Ellen Malpas, R.K Lilley
Favourite books – The Twilight books, Fifty Shades, This man trilogy, Fallen too Far.

Out of all the books and stories you've written which is your favourite?

Favourite book I’ve written – Tough Question!
I guess Healing my Heart – to see Roxy and Kade reunite.

What is your favourite genre to write ?

In book 2 Healing my Heart has a twist and is a bit of a Romantic suspense genre, so I totally enjoyed letting my stalker within out. Lol it was good creating a bit of a crazy character which was Dylan.

What are your favourite movies?

The Notebook, Dirty Dancing,

How long have you been writing?

The last 2-3 years but seriously only the last twelve months.

Who or what has been your biggest literary influence?

Partricia Cornwell, Abbi Glines

How Difficult is it for you to come up with one of your brilliant plots?

I find the plots pretty straight forward, it is the writing them the way you plan tricky.

How about characters? Are they easily born and developed?

I spend time on each character development from their full name, eye character, birth date to their personality traits etc. This is so important when writing about them to really know each person and how they would react in certain situations.

About how long does it take you to take for you to complete a novel from concept to completion?

I guess around six months, but I did the last two in around four months due to deadlines. Book 1 was a cliff hanger so a lot of people were itching to see how it continued.

Have you ever trashed a novel or story before or after finishing it, feeling it wasn't turning out as you planned?

Not so far, but I am sure I will.

Any funny experiences or quirks you'd like to share with your readers?

I like even numbers, I have a few OCD qualities, I use a lot of sarcasm lol.

Which one of your books would you like to see made into a movie?

I would have to say book 3 Forever in my Heart as it will be the ultimate Romance.

What is your favourite band or artist?

I love Pink, Nickleback, Bon Jovi.

What was it like to publish your first book?

It was scary, nerve racking and exciting all rolled into one.

What advice would you give to others who want to make writing their career?

Just go for it, you will never know if you don’t try.
Get a great editor and a few beta readers and other authors for direction.
And importantly, Read! It builds your language skills and makes you a better writer.

Do you ever get ideas at random moments, and if so how do you hang on to them?

Yes all the time, mainly in the shower. I write them down straight away or use notes in my phone.

How do you overcome writers block and do you have a special place you like to write?

Usually in my office, but sometimes on the lounge and even at the beach over the holidays. Definitely helped with my surfing and beach scenes that I wrote. So far no writers block, I do find that I have minimal time to write with kids etc, that is the hardest part to me.

Can you write on demand and under pressure, or do you need time and space before the creativity starts to flow?

So far I have been able to write on demand and under pressure. Hoping it continues this way.

Who or what was the inspiration behind your books?

Love… That four letter word, that has always been my inspiration. The feelings, emotions and reactions that it evokes. I love to write about it, the good and the bad that goes with it.
