Model Interview with Elle

Interview with model
Elle Jones

Hi Elle can you tell us a little
about yourself ?

Hi! Sure, I am a freelance model. I have been modelling for 3 years and I love my job! I originally trained as an actress but I felt modelling was the right path for me.

Can you tell us how you were “discovered” and how your modeling career all started?

For my birthday my husband  bought me a boudoir session. At the time I hated my body. I was bullied as a child and at University so I felt ugly all the time. After having children it just made me not like certain areas more. I was really nervous about having the boudoir session but I went ahead and did it. I loved it! The studio I had it done at said that I was good and should look into modelling and gave me details of where to go. Here I am 3 years later! It was the best thing I have ever done for myself as a person. I am much more confident and love my body now.

Who was your role model as a child an how did that help in being a model?

My role model was Kylie Minogue. She always wears unusual things in her videos and knows how to pose for her body type. I loved her lingerie collection when it came out and I wanted to be like her when I was younger. It inspired me to want to create my own lingerie collection one day.

How do you feel about the controversy of the size 0 debate in the industry ?

Being a petite model myself I often get told I should “eat a burger” on my social media or during Photoshoot’s be told “if you turn on your side you will disappear”. To me this is just not being body positive. I eat healthy and well but it’s just the way my body is. I am slim and petite and I always will be. I think we should all appreciate each other’s bodies for the size they are and love the skin you are in.

How do you cope under the pressures of being a model?

It can be difficult to juggle everything but I try to stay on top of things. Reply to messages as I get them and that seems to work. I find it hard to juggle taking selfies for my social media but I try my best as I know my followers appreciate seeing what I’m up to each day.

What do you do like to do in your spare time when you are not working?

I like to spend time with my family, listen to music, watch films, see my friends. I am also learning photography so I like to gain experience doing that too.

What are guilty pleasures food wise?

As I have a lot of food allergies I find it difficult but my guilty pleasure is haribo and cake!

What is the most romantic thing you have done for your partner or a past partner done for you?

I think the most romantic thing that was done for me was when my husband bought me the boudoir. He wanted me to see myself the way he did.

What is your favourite movie?

My favourite movie is Pretty Woman.

Are you motorbike girl or a car girl?

Definitely a car girl.

Do you have any limitations when modeling, is there anything
 you won't do?

I work upto nude/art nude. I won’t do open leg or adult work.

How would you describe your personality?

I would say I’m quite a chatty person, friendly, bubbly and easy going.

Who is your inspiration?

My mum. I know that sounds cheesy but she is a strong woman. She juggles so many things and is always there for people.

Had you always wanted to be a model?

Not originally. I wanted to
 be an actress.

Are there any misconceptions that people have about modeling that is not true?

That’s it’s glamorous and easy to do. It’s hard work and often times you are cold and uncomfortable in the items you are wearing. I wouldn’t change it though!

What has been your best experience
so far?

Being on two book covers!

What did your parents first think of you being a model and where they supportive?

My parents have been incredibly supportive. I am so pleased that they support me and help me achieve my goals.

Do you have goals, Plans, checklist?

Yes, I have goals I want to achieve and review them every year. I have achieved so much in such a short time but there’s always more that I want to do.

What beauty tips do you swear by?

I always make sure that my face is clean, toned and moisturised so I have a good base to apply make up on to. If your base isn’t clean or is dry then anything you apply on top of that isn’t good. I swear by Liz Earle products.

If a young girl/boy wanted to be a model what would your advice for them be?

I would say learn how to move your body, learn the right angles for you. Also get to know lighting and where it falls. The more you know the more you will succeed. It can be tough competition so the more you know and how to pose the better your chances will be.

Do you have a stylist when do a photoshoot and if you didn't like anything  would you tell them?

I don’t have a stylist. As I’m a freelancer I do a lot of the styling myself. If I had a stylist and didn’t like something I would pose in it just like any other clothing I wear. It’s not my job to judge what I wear, it’s my job to make it work with my body and make it look good.

Do you get to meet lots of authors?

I have met a few, I am attending an event soon where I will be meeting a lot more.

How many book covers have your photos been on or teasers(Promo) have you been used for?

I have been on two book covers and I hope to be on more!

Do you go to any book events
 as a model?

Yes, I try to go to events when I can. I am attending one soon so I’m hoping to make even more contacts in the book world.

Where would you like to see
yourself in 5 years?

On more book covers, to be a model for a brand, doing more commercial shoots, owner of my own lingerie brand.

What has been your favorite shoot / campaign / work to date?

Ooh I couldn’t just pick one! There has been so many I’ve loved doing. I love creating images so it’s very difficult to choose!

How would you describe your personal style, Where do you pull your inspiration from?

Girly and fun. I tend to just go with what feels right and what I think will go well together. I look at what others are wearing and try to make it my own.

Sometimes the modeling industry gets a bad rap with the jealousy and egos encountered between other models and agencies. Was this true for you? Have you managed to tough it out and make good friends?

I always try to get along with most people. I think it can be difficult because you will always come across different personalities and you aren’t always going to get along with everyone. Having said that I have made some fantastic friends in the industry!

Do you ever get shy in front of the camera? Is modeling an easy job or more strenuous than people realize? (How so)

No, I don’t tend to get shy in front of the camera. It’s more strenuous than people realise. After posing for several hours you get tired and muscles get sore. You also end up with bruises. But it’s all worth it!
