Chance Carter

Author interview with Chance Carter

Hi Chance  ,how are you today?

Hi Louise, I'm doing pretty great thanks, thanks for having me on here.

Tell us a little about yourself?

I'm 34, I was born in Ireland and moved to Canada to pursue writing about 5-6 years ago. I have one brother and one sister and my parents still live in Ireland.

What is your favourite movie?

I like a lot of movies. I have a bit of an obsession with anything war related, but my top one would possibly be Saving Private Ryan.

Are you a action, horror or Romance movie type of man?

I like when there's a bit of all three in any story or movie. I love action but when the movie ties good action with good romance it's usually a winner for me.

What is your favourite colour?

Probably Blue, for the Jays ;)

What star sign are you?

Aries

What is your ring tone on your phone?

Believe it or not I had to look up the name of what I use on my phone, it's apparently called "Opening".

What do your family think about you writing and have they read any of
your work?

They love that I do it. They know it makes me happy so what's not to like. I don't encourage them to read it, I feel I'd have a lot of explaining to do to my mum if she did read it so I'd prefer to avoid that conversation.

Are you any good in the kitchen and what is your speciality ?

I think I'm awesome in the kitchen. Like a typical guy I need to use every utensil and pot in the kitchen but in my opinion it's totally worth it. I don't have a speciality but I made some mean meatballs last week that I was pretty proud of.

What is your favourite food?

Probably French. I like anything with lots of sauces and flavours though.

What is the most romantic thing you have done for a girl?

Well I'd think I've done too many to remember. I'm a born romantic afterall. My style is usually lots of little things every day over huge gestures but maybe one memorable one is arranging for one girl to have time off her work and flew her out to Italy to meet me for a roadtrip. She had no idea so that was pretty fun.

What's the kinkiest thing you have done?

Ooh, don't want to give too much away, lets just say my stories aren't very fictional when it comes to the sex scenes?

There is a lot of BDSM books out now have you ever read any ?

A few.

Have you ever entered in to the BDSM world for book research or
personal  reasons?

Nah, not really. Don't think it suits me, seems strangely structured to me.

When you write hot scenes in your book does it effect you?

Do I really have to answer that? I am a man, that should say it all.

What's the best reaction  you have had from your wife/girlfriend after
she's read the hot scene in a book?

Well, there's never been a bad reaction. Putting a scene like that infront of a girl is usually a sure way to get her in the right mood which is awesome.

Do you have any tattoos or body piercings and what are they and where
?

Yeah I have a bunch on my left shoulder and arm. They are all randomly shaped snowflakes in black and white ink. Got them years ago.

What do you think of tattoos on women?

Hot as hell.

What is the wildest thing you have done?

Well I spent two years driving around Southern Africa and then South and Central America so basically every day was a pretty cool adventure.

What does a good night on the town mean to you?

A cool bar with good vibes, maybe some jazz and great whiskey.

What is your drink and do you have a favourite cocktail?

I love an Old Fashioned. Probably a bit too much. I recently got into cocktail making myself so stock a bar in my house for it. I get a thrill out of making them.

What music would get you up on the dance floor and what would your
wife/girlfriend say you danced like, ?
(Are you like a grandad dancing or do you think you have moves when
you don't 😉)

Oh I'm a crazy dancer, once I start there's no stopping me. I love hip hop or maybe something a bit more old school. Who doesn't get teased by the ladies in their life for how they dance.

Are the stories old ones you have saved or new?

Bad Boy Daddy is brand new.

What is your favourite genre to write?

Romance.

which one of you're books was your  favorite to write?

Bad Boy Daddy is my first book.

When and why did you begin writing?

A couple of years ago. I enjoy it and I like to think the readers do too. So that's all the reason I need.

When did you first consider yourself a writer?

I don't know, when do you become a writer? When you first get published or when you write your first sentence?

What inspired you to write your first book?

I got pretty interested in motorbikes a while back so took that interest and put it in my story.

Do you have a specific writing style?

Not that I'm aware of. I like first person but that's not the only style I write in.

Who was the easiest character to write for and why and  hardest and
why?

I haven't written enough characters yet so it's hard to answer this one. Girls are hard for me to write because I'll never understand them.

which lead character is your personal  favourite  and why?

Too soon to say.

If you could pick one of your books to be made into a movie which one
would you choose  and why?

Again, too soon to say.

Who would you cast for the movie ?

N/A

What was your favorite  book as a child?

Catcher in the Rye.

How did you come up with the title?

Threw out all sorts of options with my friends and family and Bad Boy Daddy came out as the favourite.

How much of the book is realistic?

It's all realistic.

Are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?

Not really, loosely on the type of guy I am but not so much the events.

Have you ever binned a book when half way through thinking it wasn't
good enough?

Sure have.

What books have most influenced your life most?

There are so many:

The Fountainhead - Ayn Rand
1984 - George Orwell
The Wealth of Nations - Adam Smith

If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?

Any of the above and so many more. Way too hard to say just one.

What book are you reading now?

The Martian

Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest?

What are your current projects?

I'm working on this Bad Boy Daddy series at the moment.

Do you recall how your interest in writing originated?

It was while I was travelling around. I spent a lot of time alone so was putting a lot of my thoughts down on paper.

Can you share a little of your current work with us?

Nope ;)

Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?

I mentioned it earlier but being a male in this genre is not the easiest.

Who is your favorite author and what is it that really strikes you
about their work?

Who designed the cover(s)?

I did.

What was the hardest part of writing your book?

Patience. It takes a lot of time and I'm sometimes too keen to wait for all the steps of putting everything down on paper.

Do you have any advice for other writers?

Sounds cliche but keep at it. Seriously.

Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?

Other than a massive thank you for responding so well to the story not much. Keep reading my future books :)

Do you have any funny quirks or stories you would like to tell us
about yourself?

It's kind of hard to think of a quirk about myself because to me I'm sure all my quirks are completely normal. I know that one that people who get to know me are always surprised by is that I'm kind of a neat freak. I have a place for everything in my house and am pretty anal about making sure that's where they go.

Do you have any secrets you would like to share ?

Haha, is that a trick question. Of course there isn't.

What do you like to do to keep fit?

Swimming and/ or weights.

What do you like to do when your not busy working and writing?

I eat out a lot. I also love driving so just drive for no reason a lot of the time.

Are you a car or motorbike kind of guy?

Well I love my cars, I think bikes are awesome though. I'm gonna have to sit on the fence for that one.

What is your  favourite  car?

My first ever car was a 1970's Mustang which I loved but that's long gone. I have a 1980 Jeep Honcho at the moment which I love driving.

Where do you see you self in ten years time?

Kicking ass as a writer...

Thank you for  joining  me today you have been awesome.

As have you Louise ;)
Hi Louise,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you on these. I've done my best to answer as many as I could. Some were difficult as I only have the one book but hope it works for you.

Thanks for the opportunity. Would love to see a link when it's complete.

Love,
Chance
