Author Interview
with
EROTICSTORM
Hi EroticStorm, Can you tell us a little about yourself ?
Well, I'm EroticStorm on Amazon. I would have liked it to be two names, However, amazon doesn't allow anyone to use the word erotic or erotica. So the solution was EroticStorm as one word. Confusing I know.
Just a guy who started reading erotica about five years ago. I guess there were some good and bad stories out there to read. Then after reading about 1000 shorts, I decided that I could do better than most.
I found a lot of authors don't know how to or are afraid to write sex scenes that give the emotion and feeling of the act.
I think my writing style is one of giving pleasure. As opposed to writing that runs on and on. I don't do multiple partners like some authors do. I think it's ridiculous for a woman or man to have hundreds of partners in the space of a few weeks like most stories run. I concentrate on the connection with a couple and the intensity of sex for them.
Some of my readers tell me that I draw the reader into the story and that they feel everything that's happening. I can say for sure if that;s what happens only the readers can. However if I do than that;s a good thing; right?
In school were you good at English?
No hated it. Maths was my thing.
How would you describe yourself?
Just your average Joe, who had too much time on his
hands with a mind that running at 100 mph.
Do you have any bad habits?
Lol, sure who doesn't.
What are your best qualities?
Well, I try to be upfront with people.
What are your ambitions for your writing career?
To have my books read, be they good or bad. I know one thing that the more I write, the better I get. I'm always going back over past books and refreshing them.
Which writers inspire you?
None. However, I know one who didn't, and that was EL James. That book is a load of crock.
Who is your favourite character and hat does he/she do
that is so special about them?
Which one I have so many running. lol. James in the Adele series. And Adele herself. Both pretty much like up and coming 20's to 30's well-educated type.
What are you are you working on at the moment?
Too much actually. Lol, Katie Holmes Series. Adele Series, Enchanted Series and there are a few series that I have put on a slow burn. You might ask why so many series and that would be a fair question. To answer that I guess there's only so much sex one can read about in a book. My stories have a theme and story line but a hell of a lot of sex. So I break the books up.
What genre will your book be?
Erotica always Erotica with varying slants. I.E BDSM, Paranormal, Step-in-law, etc
What draws you to this genre?
I'm good at writing it.
What actor/actress would you like to see playing the lead characters in your book?
That's an interesting one. Let's say Angela Jolie would be nice.
When did you decide you wanted to be a writer?
Four years ago
How much of your books are realistic?
I think a lot actually.
How many books have you written so far?
18
Is your real name your author name or just a pen name?
Pen Name
How much research do you do?
none
Would you consider writing with another author?
I haven't thought about it.
What made you decide to sit down and actually
start something?
Rubbish, I was reading at the time.
Are your story's an old ones you have
saved or new ones?
Both.
Do you write full-time or part -time?
A lot
Do you have a special time to write or how is
your day structured?
Afternoons or late at night.
Do you aim for a set amount of words/pages per day?
Varies but 4 hours a day is enough, and I guess that around ten pages or about 2 to 3 thousand words. I listen to my writing as I write. I like to hear the flow of what has been written. But I use a fast speaking setting.
Do you write on a typewriter, computer, dictate or longhand?
Computer
Where do your idea's come from?
They just float around in my head.
Do you work to an outline or plot or do you prefer just to see where the idea takes you?
Both I find I have a small plot that
just keeps growing.
What is the hardest and easiest part about writing your book?
The structure I guess is the hardest. Easiest is writing itself. I find for every hour spent on the initial story ten hours are spent honing it to a satisfactory standard, without losing my original thoughts,
Is your book part of a series, tell us a little about it?
Most are, and they are too many running
to go into detail.
What are your thoughts on writing a series?
I like to write series.
Do you read much and if so who are your
favorite authors?
Hardly any at all since I started writing. I want to
maintain my style.
What are you reading at the moment?
Financial Times lol.
Tell us about the cover and how it came about?
I just try to match my covers to the characters,
Who designed the covers?
Me
How are you going to publish your book? (e.g., Indie, Traditional or both)
Self-publish
How are you planning to market your book and
what tools will you use?
Whatever is available.
How do you relax?
Red wine and football. Some fishing
and traveling.
What is your favorite band/ artist?
Too many, I'm very versatile with my
tastes in music.
Where do you see yourself in five years time?
Traveling.
What advice would you give to aspiring authors.?
Do it your way. And avoid editors. If they could write, they would be publishing books themselves. Some people think it should read like a dictionary, Well I say to those to go and buy the dictionary and read it multiple times, see if you can find a story in it while you are at it. Be wary, because there are so many people out there that praying on the meager amount an author receives for his or her work.
What star sign are
Taurus
If you had to do your debut book all over again would you change anything?
All way do. I'm always refreshing my books.
I think I owe the readers that.
Can you share with us some teasers from your books?
Sure
What was your favorite book growing up?
Never had time to read to much. I grew up on farms.
Are there a certain type of scene that are harder to write than others?
Not really.
What did you do before becoming an author?
Investor.
What is the worst job you've done?
Changing nappies,lol.
Why do you think sex sells in books?
Because so many are deprived of a connection physically and emotionally. A well written Erotic book provides that and also sexual gratification. I have some unique skills in that department and try and pass them on in my books.
Why do you think people read erotica. What do you think erotica fiction does for them?
They get aroused and use that arousal to either enhance their sexual experience with a partner or their go it alone and take their pleasure. Much like watching porn I guess only its a slower and more gratifying build for the reader.
What's the difference between erotica fiction and porn? Do you think readers get them mixed up?
I find that porn doesn't make the full mental connection.
How much does your own sexuality come into play when you are writing your book?
Quite a lot.
Do you think erotica is an easy subject to write?
I don't find it hard but many do.
How do you use the description to write a good sex scene?
Very detailed in emotion and feeling.
What is the most erotic scene you've written?
I think all mine are pretty damn good, although the most intense would have to be in Tempestuous Awakening.
Is there any subject you would never write about and why?
Animals and blood relatives, rape.
Would you let your partner read your books?
Sure.
What was the best reaction to you have had to the sexy scenes in your book by a friend?
Real life friends. Not sure, Facebook friends well let's just say that they enjoyed themselves.
What would be your perfect date with a partner be?
lol. In what lifetime. We have what we have in this life, and we should be thankful for that. As for in minds-eye, we can all use our imagination.
What is your secret fetish that you have never told anyone about?
It will stay that way a secret.
Are you any good in the kitchen and what is your specialty?
Sure I am okay. I like to use my imagination there as well. However, I do like a good oven cooked salmon with steam veg. I coat the salmon with plum sauce, so it doesn't dry out, and it does add a subtle hint of flavor as well.
What is it that you enjoy about writing erotica?
A good story that has a great connection with readers.
What made started you writing erotica and not other genres?
I think I've already answered that. But I guess I wanted to pass on pleasure to others if that makes sense.
What do you think makes a good erotic author to you?
Well, if it affects the reader sexually and they connect with the scenes, then it's well written. If it is just a quick lick at the interaction, then it's not Erotica. It has to part emotion, feeling, and belonging. Also it has to say it as it would happen in real life. Leave nothing out.
Do you have anything else you would like to tell your readers?
Yeah, give authors feedback. There are so many out there who give fake reviews or malicious reviews the authors don't know what readers think. It's sad but true, and many of the leading authors are to blame for that with their bought reviews. They may not have paid money for them but the way they go about collecting their reviews they may as well have. Sadly real reviews are lost in all the artificial noise.
